2. Information We Collect
We may collect the following types of information:

4. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
For visitors in the European Economic Area (EEA), we process data under these legal bases:
- Contract performance: processing necessary to fulfill your purchase.
- Legitimate interests: analytics to improve our site, fraud prevention, and responding to inquiries.
- Consent: newsletter subscription, optional analytics preferences, and non-essential advertising cookies. You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.
- Legal obligation: where required by applicable law (for example, tax record retention).
5. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services that may process your data:
- Google AdSense — advertising on blog and editorial content pages (publisher ID ca-pub-1051825252184436). Google and its partners may set cookies and collect data about your visits to this and other sites to serve and measure ads. See Google’s Advertising Technologies and Google’s Privacy Policy.

- Amazon Associates — clicking Amazon affiliate links may set Amazon cookies. See Amazon’s Privacy Notice.
- Bookshop.org — clicking Bookshop.org affiliate links may set referral cookies (affiliate ID: 122250). See Bookshop.org’s Privacy Policy.
- Umami Analytics — privacy-friendly, cookie-light analytics with no personal data sold to third parties.
- Resend — email delivery for transactional mail, newsletters, and one-time sign-in links.
6. Cookies and Advertising Disclosure
This site uses cookies and similar technologies. Some cookies are strictly necessary. Others are used for analytics, affiliate attribution, and advertising.
- Strictly necessary: session authentication cookies required for login and checkout. These cannot be disabled if you use those features.
- Analytics: Umami analytics (privacy-friendly; no personal identifiers sold).
- Affiliate referral: Amazon and Bookshop.org may set referral cookies when you click affiliate links. Those cookies are set by those third parties, not by us.
- Advertising (Google AdSense): on blog and editorial content pages we use Google AdSense. Google may use cookies — including the DoubleClick / IDE cookie and other advertising cookies — to serve ads, limit how often you see an ad, and measure ad performance. These cookies may be used to show you personalized ads based on your visits to this site and other sites. Google’s use of advertising cookies is described at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
You can manage cookie preferences through the cookie banner on this site or your browser settings. You can opt out of personalized Google advertising at google.com/settings/ads and through the Network Advertising Initiative. Blocking advertising cookies may still allow non-personalized ads to appear.
A longer cookie table is also published at taciturnstudios.com/cookie-policy.
7. Data Retention
We retain personal data only as long as necessary for the purpose it was collected. Account data is retained while your account is active. Purchase records are retained for seven years for tax and legal compliance. Contact form submissions are retained for up to two years. Newsletter subscriber data is retained until you unsubscribe, after which it is deleted within 30 days.
8. Your Rights
Under GDPR and applicable privacy laws, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your data (“right to be forgotten”).
- Object to or restrict processing of your data.
- Receive your data in a machine-readable format (data portability).
- Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
To exercise these rights, email info@taciturnstudios.com or use our contact form. We will respond within 30 days and may ask you to verify your identity.
9. California Residents (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, disclose, or sell; the right to request deletion; and the right to opt out of the sale of your personal information.
We do not sell personal information for money. Advertising partners such as Google AdSense may collect data via cookies as described in Section 6. To exercise CCPA rights, email info@taciturnstudios.com and identify your request as a CCPA request.
10. AI Chat Assistant
Our website uses an AI-powered chat assistant for support. When you use chat:
- Your messages are processed by our AI vendor’s servers to generate responses.
- We retain chat transcripts for quality assurance and product improvement.
- Chat transcripts are not sold to third parties.
- You may request deletion of your chat data via info@taciturnstudios.com.
11. Children’s Privacy
This website is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
